About
pathtoconsulting
Hi! I'm Cristian.
Over the past 4 years, I've coached approximately 400 candidates across >1,300 sessions for interviews with all the major consulting firms.
88% of them got offers.
Out of those who targeted only McKinsey, BCG or Bain, 63%.
As part of my commitment to transparency, I publish an annual report of my success rates - the only coach in the industry to do so.

How is my approach different?
I coach first principles thinking. Because consulting interviewers want to see how you think, not hear memorised frameworks.
I overemphasise personal fit prep. Because most candidates ignore it and that gives my candidates an edge.
I identify and train for spikes. Because top consulting firms don’t want you to be ok at everything, but great at something.
I obsess about quality feedback. Because the only way for you to improve is to be clear on how and why.

My story
I never planned to become a consultant. After graduating from Oxford, I had no clue which way to go. My girlfriend was applying for consulting, and I decided to give it a shot. I practised hard, got a few offers and chose McKinsey!
But it turned out I hated the job. And by my second review, I was close to ‘Issues’, the last stop before being ‘encouraged' to leave. I sought mentorship and spent a great deal of time thinking about my path. I understood that I was not just a consultant but an agent of change within the Firm. With my mindset, my performance changed.
I spent almost five years in McKinsey, with the last four consistently rated top quartile of performers in the region. I was fast-track promoted twice and worked across eight countries and nine industries. I had clients thank me for the impact I delivered. I spent time coaching junior colleagues and led McKinsey’s new joiners training multiple times.
Summer of 2021, I left McKinsey. Following my instincts, I decided to write fiction, coach consulting candidates, and start a family.
